The Carversville Christian Church community has decided to cancel this year’s oyster-pork supper. The famous supper takes place every October and draws big crowds – and the frying of over 1800 oysters and cooking of 23 pork roasts. The reason? If you recall, the church experienced a fire in its steeple earlier this summer and is just not prepared to pull off the event. Don’t worry however. Next year it will be on – and it should be grand, as it will be the 140th anniversary of the supper, begun in 1871.
