You may have noticed the blizzard unfolding outside. Just know, if you must brave the nightmarish road conditions, that there will hopefully be turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, pies, and any number of other delicious things waiting for you on the other side. Be careful out there, everyone, and we hope you have an enjoyable and safe holiday. On Friday, the food events slip right back into full gear, so there’s plenty to do with visiting family and friends, including the little ones.
First order of business. If you haven’t figured out what to do for Thanksgiving yet, there may still be space available at one of the many restaurants hosting Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow, Thursday, November 27. Check our Going out for Thanksgiving post to make your last minute plans. If you already know what you’re doing, enjoy your holiday!
Holiday open houses. Once you awaken from your Turkey-induced slumber on Friday, head to Terhune Orchards for their Holiday Kickoff. They’ll be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 28-30 serving samples of their house-made mulled wine for you to enjoy while you start shopping for the holidays or take the kids around the farm to meet the barnyard animals.
Alba Vineyards is also having their Holiday Open House on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 28-30. Each day, they’ll have a different restaurant providing food specially prepared for pairing with the vineyards’ wines. See what the Farmhouse at the Grand Colonial has to offer on Friday, taste the Riegelsville Inn’s specialties on Saturday, and Dora’s Restaurant on Sunday.
Something different. If your feathers are already ruffled by all of the holiday spirit, head to Carlow Cookery for a Grilling, Rubs and Marinades Cooking Class, part of the Cookery’s culinary basics series. On the menu: Asian Marinated Chicken with Spicy Fruit Relish; Spice Rubbed Pork Skewers with Grill Sauce; Grilled Shrimp with Roasted Tomato Chutney. The class is this Monday, December 1, at 6:30 pm.
Local love. Lots of restaurants in Bucks and Hunterdon Counties offer specials for locals during the week. 
The most recent locals night to pop up is Prime Rib Night at Hamilton’s Grill Room, every Tuesday. The special is a $29.95 prix-fixe meal created around the delicious cut of beef. Check out the other locals nights here: Here’s to the locals.
