Bucks Food Calendar: March 11, 2015

Well, it looks like we made it. It seems that the threat of snow has finally dissipated, bringing with it the rains of spring and lots and lots of mud. Things will be coming back to life, and with it, so is the food scene in Bucks County. This coming week and weekend (March 11 – March 18) are jam-packed with fundraisers, St. Patrick’s Day festivities, and prix fixe dinners. Happy (unofficial) spring!

Fundraisers. On Thursday, March 12, Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA) is partnering with Uno’s Chicago Grill in Warrington to network-of-victim-assistance-logohost a fundraiser for their No Bullying Run. Between 11 am and 9 pm, Uno will donate 20% of customer checks (dine-in or take-out) to NOVA, which will use the proceeds for the run, which will take place on June 13.

On Friday, March 13, head down to Philadelphia for the Muscles for McKenna Fundraiser (check out the facebook page), an evening at the elegant  Crystal Tea Room (pictured below) Finley Catering Crystal Tea Roomdedicated to funding a cure and raising awareness for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), the number one genetic cause of death of children under the age of two. What’s the local connection? The evening is in honor of Central Bucks kindergartner McKenna Ellixson, who lives with SMA. The evening includes a deluxe open bar, dinner, dancing, silent and live auction plus raffle. You’ll also enjoy live music by The Heartbeats. Purchase your tickets here.

On Saturday, March 14, from 1 to 4 pm, go bald! St. Baldrick’s Foundation, an organization dedicated to funding research to cure childhood cancers, is setting up shop for a St. Baldrick’s Fundraiser at Villa Milagro Vineyards in Finesville, NJ. Join shavees and their sponsors as they sacrifice their hair to support research to end childhood cancer.

Villa Milagro WinesVolunteers will have their heads shaved bald in solidarity with children who lose their hair during cancer treatment. Go cheer them on – the $10 admission all goes to St. Baldrick’s Foundation, and you’ll get free wine tasting and a gift glass.

Want to have your pancakes and eat them, too? The local firehouses are at it again with their Sunday Breakfasts. Perkasie Fire Company’s is from 8 am to 12:30 pm, Riegelsville Fire Company’s is also from 8 am to 12:30 pm, and Silverdale Fire Company’s is from 8 am to 1 pm, all on Sunday, March 15.

St. Patrick’s Day. Old York Cellars will celebrate the St. Patrick’s Day Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, March 14 and 15, from 12 to 5 pm, with live music both days, plus Irish fare like soda bread and Dubliner cheese served alongside their wines.

Corned Beef and Cabbage

McCoole’s Red Lion Inn’s St. Patrick’s Party is on Saturday, March 14 from 6 to 11 pm. They’ll have live music, including bag pipes, corned beef & cabbage and other Irish dishes, and drink specials.

If you’d rather hit a lot of spots and keep on the move, the Playhouse Riverview Cafe in New Hope is hosting a St. Paddy’s Day Pub Crawl & Scavenger Hunt from 12 to 5 pm on Sunday, March 15. Gather stamps, silly items and crazy photos as you make your way throughout the Bucks County Playhousetown of New Hope, hitting all of the bars, plus other local establishments. The fun starts at the Playhouse Riverview Cafe at the Bucks County Playhouse. You must be 21 years or older for this event.

Craving Irish food, but would rather sit down at a table and eat it? The Yardley Inn, the Washington House Restaurant, and Rising Sun Inn all plan on serving dishes from the Emerald Isle to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

For more festivities, be sure to check out our full calendar of food events.

Hamilton’s Grill Room is at it again with their Annual Oyster Dinner, slated for three nights (Tuesday through Thursday, March 17-19). Each night includes a tasting of East Coast and West Coast oysters, plus a four course oyster-centric dinner. See the full menu here.
