The Hunterdon Land Trust and Ted Blew of High Hope Hogs are hosting an old fashion pig roast on Thursday July 8th , 3 pm to 7 pm, during the land trust’s Farmers’ Market at the Historic Dvoor Farm. Shoppers at the Market can enjoy the pig roast along with roasted corn on the cob, a cool drink as well as cole slaw and dessert provided by Market Roost Fine Catering in Flemington. All this for just $10 for adults, $7 for kids under 12.
“The Farmers’ Market is a great place for our community to come together” said Catherine Suttle, the Market Manager. “We’re excited to invite the public to come and enjoy farm fresh food and the beauty of the Dvoor Farm. Relax in the shade of a tent and listen to live music. You can stock up on fresh food and support local farmers at the same time. Where else can you do all that? We’re grateful to our vendors and local businesses for making this celebratory pig roast possible.”
The Hunterdon Land Trust started the Farmers’ Market in 2007 to support local farmers, and it has been open seasonally on Sundays for the past three years. This is the first year the Market is open on Thursdays, making it easier for people who work in Flemington but live elsewhere to take advantage of the fresh, local, delicious foods for sale. Thursday shoppers are treated products not available on Sundays, like Oak Grove Plantation’s huge variety of herbs, vegetables, corn meals and flours. Members of the land trust also get special deals at the Thursday Market, previous specials have included hand made soaps, herb plants and reduced prices on organic produce.
“On behalf of the land trust, and the farmers and producers our market supports, I’d like to thank the many volunteers who help out at the market as well as the land trust members and the local businesses that support our efforts to preserve farmland and natural areas in Hunterdon County. I’d like to extend a special thank you to our Farmers’ Market sponsors: Stem Brothers, Inc., Basil Bandwagon Natural Market, Matt’s Red Rooster and Team Capital Bank” says Margaret Waldock, Executive Director of the Hunterdon Land Trust.
The Hunterdon Land Trust Farmers’ Market at the Historic Dvoor Farm is located at 111 Mine Street, Flemington. The market is open Sundays (including the 4th of July) 9 am to 1 pm and Thursdays from 3 to 7 pm.
