It’s good to live in a beautiful place that attracts folks from all over. It’s even better to get in on some “local” deals. These restaurants love their locals by offering special prix fixe dinners during the week. It’s a great opportunity to experience that restaurant you’ve been meaning to try—at a great price.
In Bucks County
Karla’s, of course, has the longest standing Locals Night. On Mondays, they offer a special local’s night three-course menu, where all entrees are served with a choice of soup du jour or house salad, coffee and dessert. Fish, meat, a vegetarian dish, and their famous panko crusted mac & cheese are always on the menu. See their website for a sample menu. Karla’s is in New Hope at 5 West Mechanic St.
Just up the street from Karla’s, Cafe Blue Moose has Neighbors’ Night every Wednesday from 5 pm – 9 pm. The $24 three-course menu changes each week to reflect the freshest ingredients available locally. Here’s an example of a previous Neighbor’s Night menu.
Chef Skylar Bird started this youth-run restaurant in his parents’ home over ten years ago when he was just a teenager. In 2011, he moved into a lovely space on West Mechanic Street and has been packing the place ever since with his fresh, creative dishes and good prices. (Read our previous post, The kids are all right.) Cafe Blue Moose is in New Hope at 9 West Mechanic St. BYOB.
On Main Street, John & Peter’s offers dinner to locals at half price on Wednesday nights (called Half Price Hump Day). John & Peter’s is at 96 S Main St, New Hope. John & Peter’s has a full bar.
Quinoa in Doylestown features a 3-course prix fixe menu on Tuesday nights for $21. It’s a great way to try their authentic and delicious Peruvian and Mexican food. See our previous post, Quinoa, to learn more about this family-owned restaurant. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for details. Quinoa is on the north side of Doylestown at 3710 N. Easton Road. [Their sister restaurant in Lambertville, El Tule, has the same deal on Wednesday nights. See below.]
Hops Bar and Grill in Doylestown offers half-price burgers on Wednesdays along with some great locally brewed beer from Doylestown Brewing Company. Hops Bar and Grill is at 52 East State Street.
Caleb’s American Kitchen Every Monday night beginning at 5 pm, Caleb’s offers a three-course prix fixe menu for $24 pp. For more information and menu details, see their locals night menus on their website. Caleb’s also has an all-American burger night on Tuesdays, where you can get a brisket, beef short rib,ground turkey breast, or faro and black bean burger for $11 plus additional costs for toppings. Caleb’s is in Lahaska, at 5738 Route 202 (near where Routes 202 & 263 meet). BYOB.
The Black Bass Hotel gives locals a prix fixe menu Mondays through Wednesdays with their Meet Me at the Bass locals nights. The three-course menu offers two choices for starters, entrées and desserts for $32.50 pp. To give you a taste, here’s a sample menu—Starter: Soup of the Day or Tuscan Artisan Salad; Entrée: The Bass’t 16 oz New York Strip or Smoked Maple Glazed Salmon Fillet; Dessert: Pumpkin Tart or House-Made Ice Creams & Sorbets. See their website for menu details. The restaurant will post their weekly locals night menu every week. The Black Bass is on 3774 River Road in Lumberville.
On Wednesday through Friday evenings, The Golden Pheasant Inn offers their Love Your Locals special dinner menu in their Tavern. The menu, which includes an entrée with sides, and your choice of a specially chosen beer or wine to accompany the meal, is $20, and changes monthly (see their Facebook page for details). The Golden Pheasant Inn is on 763 River Road (Route 32) in Erwinna.
McCoole’s at the Red Lion Inn offers plenty of weekly specials to locals, so pretty much every day of the week is an opportunity for saving! Tuesdays are $6.99 burgers. Any style of burger is fair game, bison excluded.
The Wycombe Publick House shows its love for locals with specials Monday through Thursday (and weekend specials too). The special is dine-in only, after 4 pm. On Mondays, get a half-price burger; On Tuesdays, you get a $6 cheesesteak or chicken cheesesteak, or a buffalo chicken cheesesteak for $5.50. Wednesdays are Yeungs & Wings Night and Thursday’s specials is Prime Rib or Fish & Chips. Also, a portion of sales on Thursdays go to the Lingohocken Fire Company.
Fran’s Pub in New Hope has an all-you-can-eat crab legs special from 5 pm until closing every Tuesday. Grab your friends and dig in!
The Carversville Inn in the historic village of Carversville (which is noted to be “10 minutes and 100 years from New Hope”) offers a burger night in the bar on Tuesday nights. Enjoy a grilled-to-order burger on Tuesdays from 5:30 pm until closing. But, they’ve been known to sell out, so come early! There are also new sharing menus on Wednesday nights, so here’s another excuse to go out with friends mid-week.
The Yardley Inn doesn’t have a locals night, per se, but wine is half price on Monday nights, and every day from 4:30-6 pm, there’s an early bird dinner. Also, enjoy their lunch for less, where Monday through Friday you can enjoy three courses for $15.95 from 11:30 am – 3 pm. Here’s the menu for that. The Yardley Inn is located at 82 East Afton Ave, Yardley.
On the Jersey side
DeAnna’s loves its local patrons all the time, but on Tuesdays and Wednesdays they offer them a three-course prix fixe for $25, including an appetizer, entree and dessert. The menu options change weekly. Click here for a sample menu. DeAnna’s is on 54 N. Franklin St. in Lambertville.
El Tule, the Mexican and Peruvian cuisine restaurant in Lambertville, has a Locals Night every Wednesday, offering a 3-course meal for $21. The family-owned and run restaurant combines authentic, traditional dishes with innovative twists and fresh ingredients (you must have the ceviche – try the sampler appetizer). El Tule is at 49 N. Main St. in Lambertville.
At the Lambertville House, locals are welcomed on Monday evenings, 5 – 9 pm, with Lambertville Local Love, a four-course prix fixe tasting menu for $27 pp that changes weekly. If you are familiar with DiSh Catering in Frenchtown, and their delicious food, then you will be happy to come because they are the ones in the kitchen. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for the latest menu. The Lambertville House is at 32 Bridge St. in Lambertville.
Thai Tida offers locals two specials on Monday and Tuesday, no substitutions. For $13 diners can get one soup and one starter, and for $17 diners can get one soup and one entree. Thai Tida is on 236 N. Union St. in Lambertville. BYOB.
Manon Restaurant offers locals a $25 prix fixe meal on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Manon Restaurant is on 19 N. Union St. in Lambertville. BYOB.
Bell’s Tavern has All You Can Eat Pasta Night on Tuesday nights. Pick marinara or bolognese sauce and your pasta of choice. The pasta comes with salad and garlic bread, and select bottles of wine are offered at half price. Bell’s Tavern is at 183 N. Union St, Lambertville, NJ.
