Welcome to September! The summer doldrums are over (despite the temps this week) and the food calendar is revving up. Check out what’s happening this week, with some special highlights for the ladies in town — including food, wine, and lots of opportunities to meet new people!
Lobster lovers have no need to be disappointed because the Lobster Extravaganza at The Stockton Inn has been extended to September 27. From 5 to 10 pm, join Chef Alan Heckman and celebrated Philadelphia Chef Al Paris (Paris Bistro & Jazz Café ) for a “tantalizing” tasting menu featuring everyone’s summertime favorite seafood–lobster!
The 5-course dinner is $79 per person (plus tax and gratuity). The menu features lobster in every course, even dessert. Start with the chilled lobster mole with charred chili, chocolate and pickled avocado. Then, the Maine lobster bisque, with burnt apple marmalade and creme fraiche. The grilled lobster sausage with scallop and tomato-Riesling gastrique is next, followed by the lobster summer bean cassoulet, with a lobster tail and orange glazed pork belly. Don’t forget the dessert, which is a raspberry-lavender shortcake, with port-lobster syrup. Call the restaurant at 609.397.1250 or use Open Table to book your reservation.
Are you a woman looking for the most delicious, fun and interesting meet, greet, networking program? Come to Wednesdays for Women, on September 9 at 6:30 pm at Hamilton’s Grill Room in Lambertville, NJ. The evening is “Grounds for Sculpture,” joined by Cindy Srnka, corporate engagement associate. There is a twenty minute presentation on the subject followed by a three-course dinner, including coffee or tea. Cost is $40 per person, including tax and gratuity. The event is also BYOB.
Everyone is encouraged to introduce themselves to the group, bring business cards or just come ready to meet new friends! You must email directly to make your reservation.
There’s another event for women on this Wednesday, September 9 at Stella’s House Blend Cafe in Sellersville. The cafe is kicking off “The Starlight Stir at Stella’s,” new studio-style cookery classes offered at the cafe, with Wild Women Wednesday, “End of Summer Sippers,” at 7 pm.
Come and learn about wine-based drinks and then enjoy sampling them with the perfect dish. Class fee of $50 per person includes appetizer, entree and dessert pairings plus recipe copies to take home. Please RSVP to Stella’s at 267.404.2443.
Here’s what you’ll find at area farmers’ markets: Apples, basil, beets, blackberries, cabbage, carrots, cilantro, collards, sweet corn, cucumbers, edamame, eggplants, escarole, lettuce, garlic, green beans, peaches, pears, cut herbs, husk cherries, kale, mushrooms, okra, variety of onions, oregano, parsley, field peas, sweet peppers, chili peppers, red and white potatoes, radishes, rosemary, sage, salad mix.
