Ah, there’s really nothing quite like a quality meal with the perfect wine. They really do complement each other well. This week, there’s diverse dinners with wine pairings, and both menus are enough to make my mouth water (I might have to try both). September is in full swing so wash your week down with your favorite glass of wine or tasty meal.
There will be a tasty farm-to-table dinner at the Hopewell Valley Vineyards on Wednesday, September 16 where you can appreciate local foods, artisan local wines, and Mediterranean cuisine. For $70, you can join chef Nikiforos Vaimakis as he caters some of his favorite Greek-inspired dishes. The dinner has local and fresh ingredients, and draws inspiration from both Vaimakis’ native country of Greece as well as the farm-to-table movement of the States.
With every new dish, a different wine will be served and presented that best complements the flavors and palate. Dinner will be served from 6 – 9 pm. Please arrive at 5:30 pm to socialize and get to know one another. The menu includes a first course of fresh romaine lettuce salad garnished with fresh green peas, diced tomatoes, fennel root, red onion, and scallions with a dressing of avocado-lemon sauce, with dill, parsley, seeds and toasted walnuts. The wine served with the first course will be a chilled Bramante. The second course will be zucchini patties with quinoa, cheese, and mint, and Greek-yogurt-based dipping sauce and served with Pinot Grigio. The third course is a creamy broccoli and leek soup with a base of goats milk, toasted almonds, shaved pecorino, and fresh ground pepper, served with Chardonnay. The fourth course will be grass-fed beef with baked eggplant, cooked in red wine, light tomato sauce and fresh herbs and served with Sangiovese.
Reserve your spot here because seats are limited!
You don’t need to be an experienced artist to come to the Rising Sun Inn for a Paint Party with featured artist and owner Ana McCormack of ADM Gallery & Studio (in Newtown Square). Come on Wednesday, September 16 at 7 pm as she teaches everyone how to paint a sunset. The evening pairs instructional art with food, wine, and McCormack will help guests produce original works of art. Again, no experience necessary! All supplies are provided.
To paint, tickets are $35 per person. Also available to purchase is the food and wine pairing, which is $25 per person. Enjoy three seasonal courses paired with three wines. Eat, drink and paint throughout the evening!
Class is limited to 25 people. Please call 215.721.6350 to make your reservation.
Experience a night of California wine without hopping on a plane by heading to the Yardley Inn for the Trefethen Wine Dinner on Thursday, September 17 at 7 pm. Enjoy California wine from the family owned and operated Trefethen Wine Estate. The Inn’s Chef Eben Copple will create a menu to complement the wines. The diverse menu includes a red snapper crudo with apple, red chili and Riesling wine; roasted squash salad with kale, Asian pear, clove syrup, caper and walnut, paired with a Chardonnay; a duck ravioli with black olive, dried cherry, served with a Merlot; a beef tournedos villaret with mushrooms and green pepper, paired with a Cabernet Sauvignon, and last, shortbread thumbprints with rose and ginger and served with the wine maker’s choice.
The dinner is $75 per person with tax and gratuity. Make a reservation on Open Table.
