Bucks Food Calendar: November 9, 2015

Mark your calendar this week for some of the delicious food events going on in Bucks County. In particular, there is one very special day this week and it’s one we should all remember and take time to observe.

That special event is Veterans Day, which occurs this Wednesday, November 11. In honor of Veterans Day, there are tons of restaurants and locations offering discounts and deals for those who served our country and to honor those who have fallen. Here’s a short roundup:

• The Golden Corral: Free meals to active military and veterans from 5 – 9 pm.
• Hickory Kitchen: 20% off on Veterans Day with military ID
• The King George II Inn: Free meals to active military and veterans, located at 102 Radcliffe Road.
• Applebee’s Grill & Bar: Free meal for Vets Day Menu to active military and veterans, see participating restaurants.
• Denny’s: A free Build Your Own Grand Slam breakfast to active military and veterans from 5 am – 12 pm. Located at 640 East Lincoln Hwy.
• California Pizza Kitchen: Choose a pizza, salad, or pasta and dine-in. Please come in uniform, bring ID or other proof of service.
• Starbucks: Free tall brewed coffee for active duty, veterans and their spouses. Call ahead and participating stores only.
• Texas Roadhouse: Free lunch event to honor men and women of the armed forces. Dine-in only, call ahead to verify times and locations.

Also, on Wednesday, November 11, the Riegelsville Inn and Sand Castle Winery are teaming up for an exciting 6-course wine paired dinner, showcasing late harvest flavors of fall. The dinner brings together Riegelsville’s Chef Jeremy Donohue, with wines from Sand Castle Winery paired by the vintner, Joseph Maxian. Here is the full menu for the event, and the cost is $6o per person. Call to reserve your spot at 607.283.1130.

Enjoy a fun “Ladies Night Out” with wine tasting, dessert and a private Tarot Card reading on Thursday, November 12 from starting at 7 pm for $40 per person. Call Crossing Vineyards and Winery at 215.493.6500, ext. 19 to place your reservations. (This event will be for entertainment purposes only.)

Taste four delicious Irish whiskeys at Nektar on Thursday, November 12 from 7 – 10 pm, sponsored by the Dram Devotees of Bucks County. The tasting includes four whiskeys: Powers Irish Whiskey, Jameson’s Caskmates, Green Spot, and Redbreast 12 year old. Join fellow whiskey aficionados to discuss each individual bottling and the distinctive qualities in these whiskeys. Bill Helfferrich will be the special guest expert from Pernod Ricard. Each attendee will receive a free gift with ticket purchase. Cost is $45 per person.

Here’s what you’ll find at area farmers’ markets: Apples, apple cider, beets, broccoli rabe, cabbage, carrots, collards, lettuce, garlic, green beans, kale, mushrooms, variety of onions, oregano, sweet peppers, chili peppers, red and white potatoes, radishes, rosemary, rutabaga, sage, salad mix, Swiss chard, winter squash and spaghetti squash, thyme, and more.
