Because there’s always so much going on in Bucks County, we’ve started giving the weekend it’s own post on Thursdays – but there’s still a lot to do on the upcoming weekdays, including tarot card readings, a free dinner and wellness talk, hamburgers, and a benefit dinner.
Thursday, May 14: The “Wine & Spirits” Tarot Card Reading and Wine Tasting at Crossing Vineyards at 7 pm promises to be a great chance to have a Ladies Night Out (or friends night out…). The night includes wine tasting, dessert, and a private tarot card reading. Reservations are necessary; make them by calling 215.493.6500, ext. 19.
Monday, May 18: Every Monday, Hearth in New Hope features a three-course Chef’s Choice Prix Fixe dinner for $30. BYOB and a lovely patio to sit out and people watch in New Hope (right on Main Street). See our post, Here’s to the locals, for more weekday dinner specials in Bucks and nearby.
Tuesday, May 19: There are times when nothing but a burger will hit the spot. If this craving happens to hit you on a Tuesday, you’re in luck: every Tuesday is Locals Hamburger Night at the Carversville Inn from 5:30 pm until closing. The burgers have been known to sell out, so get there early!
Wednesday, May 20: Caleb’s American Kitchen is back with its seasonal Friend of a Farmer Dinner Series, a four-course prix fixe dinner featuring local produce that happens Thursday and Friday twice monthly. To kick off the series, they’re hosting a special Friend of a Farmer Dinner on Wednesday, May 20 (any time during dinner hours) to benefit the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance, a local non-profit organization that strives to help create and maintain a sustainable local food system. The dinner is four courses featuring produce from Blue Moon Acres and None Such Farm, wine from a private donor, beer samples from Triumph Brewery, and hard cider from Snipes Farm. Here’s what you’ll find at area farmers’ markets: Tender greens (kale, chard, spinach), broccoli rabe, lettuce, herbs, scallions, radishes, ramps, spring garlic, garlic scapes, onions, carrots, fennel, leeks, sweet pea shoots, asparagus, rhubarb, mushrooms, and white and sweet potatoes.
Most markets will also have eggs from free-range chickens, grass-fed and pastured meats, preserves, specialty foods, baked goods like breads, cakes, cookies and pastries, cheese and yogurt, cider and juice, sauces locally roasted coffee, and interesting crafts from local artisans.
