Bucks Food Calendar: July 20, 2015

Hot enough for you? This week might actually a good week to go inside and enjoy the cool air of a great local restaurant. Lucky for you, there are two great special dinners this week. But prepare to go outside again this weekend – we’ve got a “save the date” suggestion that will have you thinking you’re all the way down in the bayou.

Let’s try this again. Brian’s Restaurant in Lambertville was scheduled to do their Exploration of World Cuisine: Paris dinner a few weeks ago, but rescheduled it for tonight, Monday July 20 at 6:30 pm. Highlights of the meal: Wild Mushroom & Duck Egg en Cocotte, Bone Marrow Grenobloise, Seared Fois Gras, and other French dishes, topped off by Chocolate Souffle for dessert.

Love your farmer? Head to the Friend of a Farmer Dinner at Caleb’s American Kitchen, this Thursday and Friday, July 23 and 24. This month, the local and seasonal menu will highlight peaches from Manoff Market, corn on the cob, seared ahi Tuna from Barnegat, NJ, and a host of other delicious choices. The meal is four courses, for $45/person on Thursday and $50/person on Friday.

Plan ahead. Normally we’d feature this in our weekend post, but there is very limited seating, and it sounds amazing, so here it goes: this Saturday, dine on the porch of None Such Farm Market for their Low Country Summer Dinner on the Porch, which features traditional deep southern dishes with fine dining twists. Think crawfish, corn, pimento and cheddar bites, and decadent shrimp bakes. Oh, and a berry peach cobbler. There are only 28 seats, so run to the None Such Farm Market and get yours before they’re gone!

Here’s what you’ll find at area farmers’ markets: Apricots, basil, beets, blueberries, bok choy, broccoli, broccoli rabe, cabbage, carrots, celery, chives, cilantro, sweet corn, dill, eggplant, escarole, fennel, fresh garlic, green beans, fresh onions, green peppers, cut herbs, kale, leeks, lettuce, mint, mushrooms, napa cabbage, new potatoes, oregano, parsley, peaches (new!), potatoes, radicchio, radishes, rosemary, sage, snap peas, spinach, Swiss chard, summer squash, tatsoi, thyme, tomatoes, zucchini and more.
