Is the sun ever going to come out? It’s so dreary, but the good news is this weekend is filled with spring events. Bucks County businesses are ready to combat the lack of sunshine with spring festivals, community food events, and other ways to cheer you up. Don’t forget, this weekend is the Philly Farm and Food Fest 2016, which is another way to celebrate the region’s best foods, including fresh spring produce and other local treats.
1. Spaghetti Dinner

Every second Friday of the month at the Delaware Valley Fire Company in Erwinna, you can enjoy delicious food made by Gino De Schrijver of Eat This, a local Bucks County food purveyor that produces all-natural, sustainable, locally produced jams, and marmalades.The dinner is this Friday, April 8 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Not enough spaghetti for you? Also on Saturday, April 9 from 4 – 8 pm in the Quakertown High School Cafeteria, there will be an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner. Who doesn’t love a buffet of carbs? This event benefits the Quakertown High School band. It is $9 for adults, $6 for seniors, ages three to 10 cost $5, and it’s free for anyone under three years old. 2. Ladies Night

This isn’t your average ladies night. Start by following Amy of LuLaRoe on Facebook. Then, join her at Olive Oil Etcetera to explore new designs, fashion, and of taste samples from Olive Oil Etcetera. Featured is the blood orange olive oil, which can be used for anything from salmon to blood orange brownies. Finish the ladies night at Genevieve’s Kitchen on State Street in Doylestown. Fresh food, amazing BYOB, and a great place for ladies to gather.
3. Food and Live Music at Jake’s Pub

Jake’s Pub, which is a part of Jake’s Eatery (in both Richboro and Newtown) is having live music this Friday, April 8. Try out some food while you listen to acoustic music, including pierogies, buffalo chicken pizza, wedge salad and wings. There are $4 appetizers like bruschetta, corn bites, and loaded fries. Or, stop by Jake’s Eatery from 7 am – 9 pm on Mondays through Saturdays, and 7 am – 3 pm on Sundays. The eatery has breakfast until 3 pm, and dinner is served Monday through Saturday evenings.

5. Cycle & Sip Tours

Enjoy a 16-mile guided bicycle excursion from Washington Crossing Historic Park to New Hope/Lambertville and back. Then, at the winery, savor a tasting of Crossing’s wines paired with cheese, cured meats, and chocolates. A winery tour is also included. 6. First Annual River Town Wing Throw Down

Watch as 12 local restaurants throw their wings into the ring this weekend on Saturday, April 9. The First Annual River Town Wing Throw Down, presented by Bitter Bob’s BBQ, Fran’s Pub, and the Event Center by Cornerstone takes place from 1 – 4 pm. Vote for the best chicken wings from restaurants from. All attendees receive a souvenir River Town Wing Throw Down pint glass. 8. Family Day at Washington Crossing
Sunday, April 10, 11 am, Washington Crossing Historic Park, 1112 River Road, Washington Crossing, PA
Come to Washington Crossing Historic Park for their first-ever season kick-off event on Sunday, April 10. Bring the family on a hike along the Delaware Canal and tour of the Thompson-Neely House. The event itself starts at 11 am with the two mile hike beginning at the Soldiers’ Graves and moving north along the Canal Towpath and up to the Thompson-Neely House and Farmstead. At Thompson-Neely, Continental Army soldiers will have a camp set up with outdoor cooking demonstrations and discussions of 18th-century medicine, including herbal treatments used to care for sick and wounded soldiers. The event is free, and food will be available for purchase at the Thompson-Neely House.
