5 things you gotta do in Bucks this weekend (April 29 – May 1)

Salad, Hamilton's Grill Room

April seems like it went by too fast, but with the crazy cold weather we experienced in the middle of the month, I say goodbye April, hello May! This weekend, enjoy some beer, delicious local food and, of course, shad.

 1. Music & Food Truck at Bucks County Brewery

Friday, April 29, Bucks County Brewery, 31 Appletree Lane, Pipersville, PA

World Wide Burrito

The 2016 music and food truck season is in full swing this weekend at the Bucks County Brewery. The Mango Men Duo will be bringing in some great tunes, playing all the songs you know. And, of course there will be a food truck ready to fill your bellies with burritos. The World Wide Burrito Truck from Philadelphia will be at the brewery this Friday. Check out some of the crazy burritos they cook up here.

2. McCoole’s Beer Festival

Saturday, April 30, 12 – 9 pm, McCoole’s at the Red Lion Inn, 4 South Main Street, Quakertown, PA

Beer, Victory Brewing Company website
For all you beer enthusiasts out there, this is one beer festival you don’t want to miss. McCoole’s Beer Festival returns with over 75 unique beers to choose from (we can’t possibly list them all!), and since it’s hard to pick only a few to try, McCoole’s is offering unlimited samples of all beers. There will be food, music, craft vendors, trivia, and beer pong competitions. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. The beer festival plus premium spirits and wine garden tickets cost $50 in advance or $55 at the door. Designated driver tickets cost $10 or $15 at the door.

3. Weekend Lunches at Hamilton’s Grill Room

Saturday, April 30, 11:30 am – 2:30 pm, Hamilton’s Grill Room, 8 Coryell Street, Lambertville, NJ

Head to Hamilton’s Grill Room this Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1 for the first of Chef Megan’s seasonal spring and summer weekend lunches. Sit inside, or outside in the beautiful garden. You can make your reservations here. The full menu, including items like chicken liver pate, lobster rolls, and fennel salad, can be found here.

4. 35th Annual Shad Festival

Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, 12:30 – 5:30, Union Street, Lambertville, NJ

Hai Street Kitchen & Co, Philadelphia
Since 1981, Lambertville residents have been hosting Shad Fest as a way to recognize the local art scene, celebrate spring and, of course, acknowledge the mighty, bone-y shad, who make their way up the Delaware this time of year to spawn. Find the fest on Union Street in Lambertville, NJ, and but leave your car at the New Hope Solebury High School parking lot. For food, taste Bell’s Tavern’s Shad, shrimp fritters, typical festival items like hotdogs, and Triumph Brewery‘s pulled pork and beer. You’ll also find food from vendors like Mary Queen of Pork, Hai Street Kitchen & Co., and El Tule. See a full food guide here. There is something for everyone, even if you don’t like things fishy.

6. Foraging Walk with Steve Brill

Sunday, May 1,  1 – 3 pm, Pennypack Farm & Education Center, 2955 Edge Hill Road, Huntington Valley, PA

“Wildman” Steve Brill will lead one of his world-famous foraging tours at Pennypack Ecological Trust in Huntingdon Valley on Sunday, May 1 from 1 – 3 pm (not in Bucks County but this walk looks too fun to pass up!). Steve will help you find seasonal wild edibles and everyone on the walk will be able to try these free and all-natural snacks. You may see chicken mushrooms, hen-of-the woods, honey mushrooms and giant puff-balls. There should be plenty of wild greens. Lamb’s quarters, wood sorrel and lady’s thumb are a few others you may find. All walks are open to the public. Registration and payment required in advance, so visit the farm’s website here

Have a great weekend!
