3. Laphroaig Dinner
Sunday, Jan. 17, 7 pm, Yardley Inn, 82 East Afton Avenue, Yardley, PA
Every year, on the Sunday of Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday weekend, the Yardley Inn presents a whisky dinner (the idea being you have the next day to sleep it off). This year the star of the dinner is Laphroaig, an Islay single malt Scotch whisky, considered to be one of the most strongly flavored of all Scotch whiskies. It has a peaty or smoky flavor, perfect for cold winter nights by the fire.
On Saturday, January 16 at 7 pm the Yardley Inn will serve a dinner with each course paired with a different Laphroaig whisky. To start, you’ll have Humboldt Fog cheese, burnt honey, oat crumble, orange puree, served with a 10 year whisky. Next course is Lamb pastrami, biscuit, garlic & toasted chile, cress & sorrel, served with a Quarter cask whisky. Then, pork belly tacos, Seville orange & guava adobo, served with a Triple wood whisky. Followed by slow roasted duck breast, caramelized grapefruit, Kyoto carrot puree, served with an 18 year whisky. Finally you’ll have, hazelnut Horchata crème brulee with a 10 year cask strength whisky. The dinner is $90 and visit their website to make reservations.
Read about the Yardley Inn’s whisky dinner last year here. It was awesome.
