Apple pie, caramel apples, pumpkin and cinnamon, cranberry, butternut squash — these are just some of the iconic fall flavors that we crave so much. Forget about all the pumpkin spice hype, there are plenty of tasty fall specials and desserts to try.

Altomonte’s Italian Market is home to freshly made Italian sandwiches and sides, along with other tasty items that work well for the big football game or just a evening with the family. This fall, the market has plenty of fall favorites like caramel apple cake, pumpkin mascarpone cannoli, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin ravioli, and pumpkin loaf.
Bowman’s Tavern
in the New Hope/Lambertville, NJ area wants you to wear your best costume and come for a bite and a drink on Friday, October 28. There will be dinner specials, cocktail specials, a Halloween costume contest, and other ways to have a spooktacular night.
The Continental Tavern, in Yardley introduced a new fall menu this month, presented by its new executive chef, Matt Sindoni. Come check it out, or download the tavern’s takeout menu if you don’t feel like adventuring outdoors.
You can practically smell the banana bread and other fresh-baked pies made at Crossroads Bake Shop from here! Stop by for ghost meringues, pumpkin pies, pumpkin cheesecake, and apple pie. Their dessert menu for Thanksgiving can be found here.
Empanada Mama in Doylestown is serving up some fall comfort food. Try their new broccoli and cheddar soup empanadas, or the pumpkin pie empanada. Check mama’s Facebook for updates and new fall empanadas specials.
The Golden Pheasant Inn welcomes you to sit on their porch with a warm sweater and one of their specialty cocktails. This fall, try a White Cosmo, the Golden Pheasant martini, a Barge Mule, or the “Bee’s Knees,” which is made with Belvoir Elderflower lemonade and a splash of soda. Drinks not your thing? Stop in for brunch.
Hamilton’s Grill Room has an extensive fall dinner menu, with East and West Coast oysters available daily. Try the endive, apple & watercress salad, or fill your belly with warm flat-iron steak with blue cheese butter and onion rings.
The Karlton Cafe in Quakertown takes the pumpkin spice latte to a whole new level. Try their version iced or hot, and check out the other October specials like cinnamon bun french toast, pumpkin pancakes, stuffed acorn squash, or an apple and brie salad with wants and sweet onions. They also have hot homemade soup to warm you up on these chilly days.
La Chocolate Box in Lambertville, NJ knows that adults need candy too. No need to steal the kids’ Halloween stash this year; head to this chocolate store to pick up some ghoulish goodies like pumpkin truffles, candy corn, and peanut butter eyeballs. The chocolate store also has plenty of Halloween sales going on this weekend, so check out their Facebook page for more info.
Lambertville Station in Lambertville, NJ is dressing up its cocktails for the month of October. Try out speciality dessert drinks like the pumpkin spiced martini and “Autumn Rambler.” Cocktails are discounted 5 pm to closing on Halloween (October 31). Also, try out their specialty desserts like the pumpkin creme brûlée or chocolate pumpkin mousse.
Manoff Market Gardens has lots of apple varieties ready for eating! According to their Facebook page, they’ve got Winesap, Cortland, Jonathan, Jonagold, Macoun, Crimson Crisp, Golden, Gala, Keepsake and Fuji (these apples were available as of October 21). Do the tasting, then mix and match with delicious snacks. Also, there is fresh pressed cider every week. The market also finished its raspberry vinegar and recently received a shipment of Fair Trade baskets. Always call the market at 215.297.8220 to check their apple availability.
The Market at DelVal is stocked with all of your fall favorites, like pumpkins (big and small), apples, colored cauliflower, mums, and more. Stop in during lunch for a warm pulled pork sandwich, some pumpkin ice cream, or to try one of the market’s daily specials.
Maryanne Pastry Shoppe is always bursting with sweet, sticky cinnamon buns, warm cookies, and other pastry goodies. Try out all your favorite fall flavors in the form of apple fritters, pumpkin pie, crumb cake, and more. Be sure to give the shoppe a call before you stop in, just to see what is available. These goodies go fast!
Peace Valley Winery wants you to drink your apples since there aren’t many left on the trees. Pick up blushing apple, spiced apple and Lazy Dog Hard Cider, or any of their other wines that might go well with a slice of pie or a chilly evening. Also, come in costume on Saturday, October 29 or Sunday, October 30 and receive a discount on your wine purchases.
Peddler’s Village is celebrating the local apple harvest with its delicious apple pies at the Apple Festival, on November 5 and November 6. Their double crust, fresh-baked apple pies sell quickly, so you might want to pre-order here.
Pierre’s Chocolates is known for its decadent chocolates, but during the fall, they have caramel and chocolate covered apples. They even use local apples from Manoff Market Gardens. Give them a call at 215.862.0602.
